Relationships

fragile. handle with care

by that, i mean relationships.

One of the couples we know, always known to be very sweet to each other is calling it quits to each other after 8 years of marriage. Not sure what was the breaking point and i don’t wanna ask too much since it’s probably something very very private but i couldn’t help feeling sad for them and their offsprings.

But i can’t help thinking what could have triggered that need for separation? How does it  feel to suddenly not love that someone we have been sharing our life & bed together for many many years.

While i have been in & out relationships since my teenage years, i can never imagine not having to look forward to the husband coming back from work and hearing him snore next to me at the end of the day. Not hearing him complain about work or me texting him at the very last minute for Cadbury chocolates. I guess it’s never the same when you are married.

But alas, they say.. Jodoh, ajal & maut semua terletak dalam tangan-nya.
May Allah always protect my family from harm. May He never turn us against each other. Amin.

Shopping Spree

Curves

I always have other plus size friends asking me where i get my clothes from (not because i’m a Fashionista lah ok!) but because i can get clothes even if it is impossible to find in our local stores!

Our local stores are terrible in getting plus sizes in! I wish H&M brings in their plus size range seh cos plus size people need nice & affordable clothes too! I can fit into some of their L Sizes but if it’s Cotton or Chiffon, i can just dump it back to the racks.

Not to mention, we have limited Plus Size actual stores here in Singapore, something that solely sell Plus Size stuff and that Saint Rolane or any stores that advertise themselves as a store that sells from Size S – XXXXXXL does not count because their clothes are damn aunty, i wouldn’t be caught dead wearing any.

So i resort to buying online, often oversea sites as Local plus size sites sells their clothes at ridiculous pricing.
Like $50 for a basic black top.

So before i list down the shops i usually buy from, here’s some pointers to take note of!

  • Check if the site delivers Internationally, if it does, check on shipping costs and minimum order if any.
If they do not deliver internationally, but accept Paypal, you can use Vpost  or other forwarding companies like Comgateway to ship it to SG for you.
  • Check if the sites accept International Credit Cards. Even better if they accept Paypal! Sometimes, if they do not deliver internationally, they might only accept Credit Cards registered in their own country. Most of the time, i wouldn’t even bother bother buying from them but if i really really like stuff from them, i use Vshop4U or Comgateway Concierge Service.

  • Check the Size Charts on every sites. They all have different size charts. You may wear Size 14 on this site but size 16 on the other and i know how difficult it is to buy stuff online w/o trying but trust me, experience will make you wiser! After a few trial & error, u will know where to get the best fitting jeans from!
  • Check on reviews of the items. Some of these websites offer Customer reviews on every item. Those helped me a lot. These people will let you know if the cutting is too small and if you need to size up.

Other than these tips, buy using your gut feeling, after many many years of shopping online, i’ve learnt to see what material would be the best for me, what kind of cutting would work for me and if it would fit me!

I’m done with the Plus Size Directory that you can check out and see if it might benefit you! It will be permanently linked at the black tab. So feel free to browse when you need some retail therapy. Let me know if you are unsure about Paypal, Vpost etc. Would love to help!

Take Me To: Bandung Day 2

We started the day early at 7.30am. Niat di hati nak avoid all the traffic jam.
But kita hanya merancang, Tuhan menentu segalanya. Hahahaha
WE WERE STUCK IN THE TRAFFIC STILL!!!

*breathes in & out*

We planned on going to Kawah Putih. Actually i was the one yang iya-iya nak pergi because i don’t want to end up shopping the entire time (omg this coming from me is totally unbelievable) but yes i love shopping. I just don’t want to be shopping the entire trip. There’s other things to see than malls & factory outlets. lol

We took 2 hours to reach Kawah Putih and close to 3 hours from Kawah Putih back to the Town area.

Beauty & Skincare

Colour Haul

Few weeks back, just before my meet-up with Rina & Ain, i went to Sephora to look for a Face Primer but came out with lots of other stuff as well!

I was deliberating between few primers. Wanted to try out the Sephora Face Primer since it received rave reviews but upon sampling it, i didn’t like the texture. Most of these primers are silicone-based and i don’t know about you but i don’t like that silicone feeling on my face. It has the same texture as Smashbox’s and then i decided to try Make Up For Ever HD Microperfecting Primer. I’ve actually wanted to try this for the longest time but never did. I chose Mauve, No 2 and i love it.

6

It has a creamy texture and blends into my skin effortlessly. It also has a brightening effect. Great for sallow Asian skins and made my foundation last so much longer!

So, just before i paid for the primer, i ‘accidentally’ chanced upon Tarte Cosmetics. You know i had no idea Sephora Singapore carries them! So i went a little crazy swatching the blushers and the lipsticks.
I fell in love with their Amazonian 12-hour Clay Blush. Specifically the one in Charisma shade but they were out of stock. It’s such a pretty shade of coral with subtle shimmer and not in-your-face glitters. So i got mine in Tipsy instead, a matte coral shade.

4

I know it looks scarily bright here. But it brings a natural flush to my face, it is now my go-to blush each time i go out.

7

I couldn’t resist getting their mascaras as well. Look at the packaging. Glamour kan! Hahaha
This mascara lengthens my lashes like no tomorrow although i’m pretty sure it will dry up really fast and i’ll have to get another one soon. Just like my YSL one. Works really good, but so hard to remove and dries up too fast.

Last item i got, this time from Luxola.
Sleek Face Contour Kit. I’m still figuring out the proper way to contour my face without looking very bapok.
So this powder kit would be a good start. It’s cheap and so far blends pretty well.
I don’t think i’ll ever use cream contour kit. That would be too much for me and can u imagine all that cream on my oily face? Boleh main slide2 agaknya.

On another note, i cleared my cosmetics area this morning, threw away some that might have expired and took some photos. Maybe next time!

Take Me To: Bandung Day 1

Back from Bandung!
Man.. it was so tiring. I’m never doing a 3D2N shopping trip again. At least a 4D3N trip if i need to eat & shop. Or at least when i travel to Indonesia. The traffic is horrendous!! Macet here and there. We spent half a day in the car. Exciting habis.

Le husband. Who turned 31st today!
This is Part 3 of his birthday gift. An all-expenses-paid trip to Bandung. Hahahaha.

Bag-O-Love, Shopping Spree, Special Events, The Husband & Wife

yummy weekend

Most of my saturday was spent idling away and then late night, we kidnapped the mom-in-law for supper at Evans Rd and then Durians at Geylang!

20140126_004133

I’ve realized i can no longer gorge myself with durians like i used to.
I usually can finish up 2-3 whole durians by myself. I have immense love for that fruit.
Now, i’m done with half a durian before it gets too heaty.

We started off our Sunday with Zafran’s Baby Shower at Choa Chu Kang.

Pretty obvious what’s my favourite jemputan food. Haha

Friendship, Her

The Wives Night Out

After lotsa ranting, whine-ing, giggling and sharing over our whatsapp group chat, we’ve decided to level up and arrange for a date.
Since we are all residing at the west side, we decided on Jcube and Manhattan Fish Market it is!

It wasn’t the 1st time meeting up with Rina & Ain because coincidentally, both were previous clients of The Card Maison and you know i just realized that yesterday!

20140123_192041

Over a seafood platter, we talked and cracked jokes at really i don’t know what. As ex-btbs, we gushed over Bonito Bob and Elly Weddings pasal zaman kita dorang takde.  Macam lah kita kahwin zaman 80an.
We also gasped at the quotations of some vendors, sambil mengucap dan bersyukur we don’t have to pay for that. Hahahaha

Him, The Husband & Wife

chew what?!

I posted this on Facebook this morning so if you are friends with me on FB, you’ve probably seen this but it’s too hilarious to not post it up here

=============================

Was watching an early morning cookshow with the husband while eating McD breakfast. Saw the chef toasting some bread.

Sidetrack: it’s actually the show “Giada at Home”. The husband said she looks too pornstar-ish to be hosting a cookshow. Hahaha. Could be the makeup she’s putting on.

He: “Eh… Chewbacca!!”
Me: “WHAAAAAATTTTTT”
He: “eh salah, chewbacca Star Wars”
Me: “Hahahaha CIABATTA lah!!!!”

Chewbacca bakar. Wow. Just wow.

============================================

The husband spouts nonsense most of the time, really. I’m always laughing at the things he say. He’s so funneh me thinks. But i’m just being biased i know.

Shopping Spree

monochromed

I’ve been on a buying spree lately. Mostly clothes & cosmetics. So bad that i have this “I WANNA BUY EVERYTHING, NOW!!!” feeling. Perangai pembazir.

The H&M package arrived yesterday. Smiled so broadly at the Vpost guy, because i wasn’t expecting the package to arrive that day. If you must know, each time i get a tracking no, i stalk them like a hawk. But Vpost is so cunning. Their tracking system, seriously tak boleh pakai. Tau2 ada postman dekat pintu.

Not sure if it’s age catching up with me or because i’m ballooning like nobody’s business but i’m buying more black clothes now.
Side track sikit, but i just realised my double chin is visibly smaller. Must be that facial massage technique i been doing eevryday! It works!

So anyway, this whole obsession of wearing everything black happened when i was in my early 20’s. When i sidai my baju outside, all i see is black, black and more black berderet kat buluh. It was a phase i went through and then late 20’s i began experimenting with colours. I’ve never thought i would be comfortable wearing bright coloured pants but i did! Fuschia pants, Green pants and all. I gave the husband sore eyes with all my bright tops. All the tie-dyes, the ikat prints, leopard prints. I rarely do a neutral ensemble.

Then early this year, i’ve decided i wanna wear more black. More sleek pieces with nicer cuttings.
I don’t wanna be boring with Blacks though so i’m throwing in black white prints like these Cardigans from H&M.

20140123_161048

Perfect to throw over black Basics & denims and not look too boring or overdressed.
Now that i’m no longer going out to work, i really miss dressing up for work, mix & match accessories and wear heels.
So when i do go out on weekends, i put in an effort to look good. At least make myself feel better, you know.

On another note, i realised yesterday i don’t have a black going-out bag.
The jumbo is too fancy to bring out on normal going-out days and the WOC is too small to throw in my cosmetic pouch.
I need a sizeable bag that i can throw in my cosmetic pouch, ipad & a book and i need it now!
