trips and treats

For me to churn out back to back posts, i’m obviously bored.

I was supposed to head off to Bandung today with the family to buy our Hari Raya Kain and do the tailoring there and be done with it. But alas, the doctor refused to let me travel cos i need to have another scan tomorrow and it can’t wait till Monday and i don’t wanna be selfish, knowing how long we waited for this and also how much i want this to be a success. So we cancelled the flight and hotel for both of us. But luckily it’s just Bandung lah. Not too ex but it’s stil moneyyyy. Ok, i don’t wanna whine anymore. My family dah pergi pun. Dah sampai Bandung pun. Entah2 tengah sedap makan that Nasi wIth Ikan Bakar. grrrrrrr

But before they left for Bandung, i send a moodboard to my sister. Told her to buy kain for me and tailor 2 baju raya for me & rusly. Very daring of us, knowing how particular i am with the fitting of my baju. But we gave a sample of the most comfortable Baju Kurung for her to bring as samples. Rusly one is very straight forward. He will only wear Shantung material  for his Baju Kurung and always the same style every year. Because it hides his tummy and it makes him look yummy to me. HAHAHAHAHA. Really. My husband look extra handsome when he’s decked out in traditional wear. I say one.

I opted for something simpler this year. Mainly chiffon with some border lace Baju Kurung.
Opted for something more flowy so i can stuff myself silly during Raya Open house and it’ll be easier to sit on the floor. Especially when there’s so many people in a house at one time.

Why are we talking about Hari Raya already seh.
I better stop before i start craving for that Pulut Kuning and Rendang Daging again. sigh.

I just hope i can go for that KL day trip with the girls next Saturday. I really really wanna go seh. I hope the doctor let me go. Kalau tak boleh jugak, i’ll go book another flight out somewhere May or June before puasa. I WANT GYUKAKU and i wanna borong Inglot cosmetics. I don’t know why we don’t have Inglot here.

They have such a huge range of colours for everything and the price is reasonable.

As of now, i can order online but they don’t ship directly to Singapore. So i’ll have to use a third party. If anyone is keen to order anything from Inglot (except nail polishes) let me know? Maybe we can combine orders.

Eat Clean

clean & green

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you’ve probably seen these pictures!
I’ve been trying to eat cleaner meals now. Trying. Because i am just human. Sometimes i falter.
Although my willpower walking through the supermarket aisle, especially the snacks section has improved tremendously. I can walk past all the potato chips like it don’t matter and while i’m no health guru or start downing solely brown rice, i’m steering clear of Fast Food Restaurants, particularly Mc’Donalds and Instant food. Like Instant Noodles.

Throughout these past few weeks, i’ve learnt that in order for you to eat healthily, you have to plan ahead your meals.
Planning your meals ahead will make things easier for you to cook and make you feel less inclined to throw in the towel and just order Mc’Donalds delivery.

Healthy foods can be yummy too. Don’t torture yourself by eating salad only. You can eat healthy and eat yummy food as well.

Friendship, Makan Chronicles

lunch & dinner

I had a few lunch & dinner dates last few weeks!
All with different people from different phase of my life.

First up is my Carousel lunch date with Ain & Baby Zafran!
Rina was supposed to come with us but FDR just had to be a spoilsport. Hahahahaha

No 3Yummy food at Carousel as usual. My first time having lunch there. I’m usually having dinner there and the food spread for lunch is not bad! In fact, save for a few dishes here and there, it’s close to the dinner spread.

IVF Journey, Trying To Conceive

start of my protocol

This is where i’ll update my IVF Protocol, every other day. So if you are interested to read, you can always come back to this page. Cos i don’t think i’ll want to publish so many private entries on the blog. Pretty sure i’ll have lotsa thing to update because this will be such an interesting journey. Lol

we got prawn-ed!

Prawning with the usual suspects.

No 2

My 1st time prawning and i can’t really say i totally enjoy it. It is a patience game and patience is something i do not possess.

We first went to Bottle Tree Park but got so shocked at how small the prawning area is. Everybody sits too close to each other and i like my own space, thank you very much. I can tahan people sitting close with me, if it’s friends or i’m having dinner but i prefer not to sit too close with a stranger for 3 hours. That’s too close for comfort.

So we head off to Jurong instead and settled for Hai Bin at Jurong. Bahhhh so much better.
They had a few prawning pools and i think we’re all well spaced out and that place has got good ventilation.
It’s pretty inaccessible though so you have to drive there. Not sure if there are buses running at that area. They have another outlet in Punggol, if that’s nearer to you. Hai Bin operates 24 hours. So if you can’t sleep and you fancy some fishing, you can go there!

IVF Journey, Trying To Conceive

1st Phase

My 1st phase of my IVF protocol is going well so far. I’ve started my Nor E pills last Monday. It’s been 5 days now.
I’m really trying very very hard to keep to my meds timing. I’m so bad at this, no wonder i’m not a nurse.
I hate routines.

So anyway, 1 more week of eating Nor E and i’ll start my injectables next.

Nor E has been relatively kind to me except at certain part of the day, i’ll feel a slight cramp & twinges. Nothing too serious but noticeable. I’ve also been reading up on what to eat and what not to eat during this period.

I’m definitely stocking up on Brazil Nuts and Isotonic Drinks.
I’ve heard Avocados are good for uterus lining and i love Avocados!
While i’m really trying hard not to drink cold drinks, it’s really quite hard especially in this weather so i try and avoid carbonated drinks 1st. The only hot drink i love has to be tea but they say tea is not advisable to drink because it’s cooling.

How lah like that!

And oh, my blog stats are now not so crazy as before.
So i was initially fine with publishing publicly about IVF but i kinda like keeping it private for now as well. We’ll see how it goes after the IVF!

blind dates

So last friday, a few of us bloggers met up for dinner. I’ve met some of them previously. Either at Farhana’s wedding or because they were Card Maison’s clients but i love it that we all hit it off so so well!
You know i sometimes get a little scared of meeting a group of girls for the 1st time because you just don’t know what to expect lah. Especially if we all come from different backgrounds. Be it school or employment. It’s really hard to know if there’s gonna be awkward moments.

We talk mostly on weddings, vendors, shitty vendors, shitty brides, shitty makcik2 kepo. hahahahhaa
Marriage, home renovations & pregnancy. We also talked about pusat and makcik sembunyi bawah katil. ahahaha
That was a private joke and you just have to be there to fully understand the joke.
We also watched Farhana’s wedding video!

unnamed

Not sure if you can recognize all of them but here’s who’s who.

Gold Coast Day 1

28 February 2014:

The afternoon before the flight went in a blur. We went to NUH to do our HIV/Hepatitis blood test at 1.00pm, met up with the psychologist and was only done by 4.00pm. We rushed back home to get all our stuff to the airport cos we wanted to avoid the bad after-office hours traffic jam.

Managed to reach Changi Airport by 6.30pm padahal flight is at 10.15pm. But it gave me enough time to go Singpost, send all the registered mails to my clients, have dinner at Penang Culture and tau tau je dah time to board.

So anyway, we touched down at Gold Coast at about 8.20am. It was drizzling when we got there, but the sun was already peeking out.

IVF Journey, Trying To Conceive

red alert

So Aunt Flo showed up today, to my excitement!
Been waiting for a week for it to show but i guess she’s being considerate, wanting me to enjoy the Gold Coast trip before it’s grand appearance.

Why was i excited for this month’s cycle? Because this determine my IVF Start date.

On 27 February, the afternoon before we left for Gold Coast, we popped in  Clinic of Human Reproduction (CHR) for a session with the Psychologist.  A total waste of $90 if you ask me. Psychologist was telling us things that we obviously know. Common sense stuff, really. But oh well, it was one of the prerequisite for IVf so we went ahead anyway.
We also drew out blood for HIV & Hepatitis Test. I was initially scheduled to start IVF in March. However, the menses came late for Feb Cycle so the nurse told me they might have to push to May/June instead. I was initially upset about it cos i was so looking forward to poking myself with needles wanted to get the IVF done possibly before Ramadhan kicks in. But the kind nurse (bless her) kept telling me if i get my menses within 1st week of March, she will try and squeeze me for April session. I also picked up my prescription of Noresthisterone during this visit.

I called the CHR early this morning as per the nurse instruction. They called me back late afternoon. I’m starting on Noresthisterone on the 18th day of my cycle for 14 days. Will stop on 6th April and i have an appointment on 11 April with the doctor for a scan and the start of the injection. So Insyaallah, we’ll be starting the IVF Session on 11 April.
My only worry is because we’re supposed to go Bandung on 18 April with my parents. Not sure if it would clash with the scan dates though. Hopefully not cos it’s the Good Friday weekend!

I’m already starting to eat more healthily now and drink more plain water as opposed to carbonated / sugared drinks.
Wish me luck!

If you ever need someone to talk to / share your infertility woes, u can PM me on Facebook or Email me at bride.blogette@gmail.com

It’s always nice to hear from some of you who are going thru the same thing, even better when we are going to the same clinic! Like i’m not alone.

Oh you know, during the last psychologist session, she mentioned that i’m very positive and she asked who i can turn to for support during the IVF session. Apart from the husband, family and friends, i know i have you guys to spur me on. I have always been open about IVF and i feel that helps to keep me sane. Talking about it openly kinda diffuse my fear a bit. Because when i tell people about my fertility treatments, i feel people open up to me as well on their infertility and it makes me think that fertility treatment is not that bad. You need help, you seek for one. To each her own really, but i feel happy each time a reader tell me she’s decided to go for fertility treatment after reading about my experience. Small steps, people! 🙂
