Motherhood, Nadya Raessa

Just keep swimming!

Two weeks ago, Nadya had her first swimming experience!
Rusly had to go Desaru for a company trip and it was a bit leceh if i wanna tag along and all and i think Desaru is boring so i didn’t bother. Lol

So i took the opportunity to sleep over at my parent’s place! It’s been so long since i’ve slept over and also cos my nieces & nephew is sleeping over as well, so we had a cousin sleepover for Nadya. Not that dia paham apa2 pon. She was just happy with all the attention they gave her. Suka lah dia banyak orang layankan dia.

We also took that opportunity to bring all the kids for swimming! Including Nadya! Actually mak dia tau yang sibuk nak swimming. But really i just want Nadya to get used to the pool cos she’ll be starting her swimming classes next week! It’ll officially commence this Saturday but we’ll be in Penang so we had to skip a class. Kesian anak aku, kecik2 mak dia dah ajar skip class semua. tsk.

We bought her swimsuit from the Baby Fair. Got it at $55.00 instead of $70.90 here. Initially wanted her to wear those really cute and skimpy swimwear tapi macam kesian pulak. Dah lah siang2 kena belajar swimming, celup dalam air semua. So i figured just invest in a good one for her swimming classes since she’s gonna spend 30mins per class!

And i didn’t regret one bit of buying her that swimming suit. Even though material dia step macam nak gi diving. Cos after all those swimming, and i went to the shower room to rinse her, i noticed that her body wasn’t wet from all that swimming! So technically she was really ‘protected’ from the cold water. Well, except for her legs ah. No wonder she didn’t cry that much when i submerged her body in the water. Lol

Sunday swimming! #NadyaRaessa #12weeks

A post shared by Dyan Razali (@deardyan) on

a short insta-video cos the other videos i took were so noisy! Blame it on my nieces! Macam mak-neneks!

Nadya swimming classes will be conducted by Smile Swimmers. Got a positive feedback from one of my friend who sent her baby for the classes so now i’m excited to get Nadya started. I’m no tiger mummy, in case you think i’m so kiasu to be sending Nadya for classes when she’s not even a year old! I just think that swimming is a life skill that we would benefit from and it helps with baby’s motor skills and water confidence. Doesn’t help that both mummy & daddy are fond of swimming and will carik chance to swim anytime. So yes, our child need to know how to swim. Apart from that, i also want Nadya to be exposed to people at a young age, preferably people her own age and not some cheekopek lah kan. I just think that social skills starts from young. At least that’s what my parents said lah.

Cos my mom said they brought me out jalan2 ALL the time even before her pantang ended. So i grew up being quite receptive of people and i hope Nadya will turn out to be the same. InshaAllah.

Pregnancy, Second Trimester

26 Weeks

Insha Allah next week, we’ll bid adieu to the 2nd trimester and forge ahead to the third trimester.
Had my Glucose Test yesterday to detect Gestational Diabetes. It is not a compulsory test but Dr Citra ordered that for me and for a peace of mind and since it’s non-invasive, i figured why not?

I was required to fast from midnight till the test the next day. The test was scheduled at 9.05am but Dr Citra was available and she wanted to see me for updates and a short scan. Yay! Managed to see baby, so much bigger this time round. She was sucking on her thumb and we caught her having the hiccups! Lol

Finally did the 1st blood test at 10.05 am. I thought it’ll just be a prick on my fingers but turns out they had to draw out a tube of blood. After drawing out the 1st tube, i was required to drink a bottle of Glucose drink.

SO SWEET! It’s like drinking Orange Cordial with 20% water. Really sweet and concentrated.
But at that time i was really thirsty so manis pun telan je lah.

While drinking, one of the Lactation Consultant was making her rounds and randomly asked if i’m free to have a brief consultation on breastfeeding. Of course i said yes! It was quite an enriching session. Managed to ask her of my concerns, especially because i’m already leaking colostrum since 23 weeks or so. She reassured me that it’s fine and a good indication of good milk supply. Insha Allah. I really hope so! But she warned me not to try to pump or hand express it before birth because it will induce contractions.

Back to the Glucose test, i was supposed to finish up the glucose drink within 10 minutes and then go 2 hours without food and drinks until the next blood test. So i went to One@Kent Ridge at the Medical Centre and went shopping for basics at Uniqlo. Hee. Didn’t do too much shopping cos i was really hungry and sleepy, badan cam melayang2 so i went back to the Women’s Clinic to rest. Went back in promptly at 12.15pm to do the next blood test and the total bill was only $19.80. I don’t know why, but i was surprised! Because blood tests are usually quite expensive? I had to ask twice if it’s $19.80 or $90.80? Lol

Nurse told me they’ll call me if the test comes back abnormal and i’m hoping they won’t call me! Like really really, DON’T CALL ME ah please. I don’t know know why i’m paranoid over GD. Maybe because my mom had it during one of her pregnancies and also because i’m overweight.

Before i forget, baby been doing this rhythmic bumping lately and i thought it was one of her kicks and i was just wondering how come it happened so often and so rhythmic and then Dr Citra told me yesterday it was her having hiccups! HAHAHA So cute don’t know for what! Sometimes when it happens, i’ll stare at my bump and see it going up and down.

Weight-wise, i lost another 3 kg from the last visit. But i wasn’t too bothered about it already ah. Dr Citra said nothing to worry and that means i have lesser weight to lose post-natal. As long as baby is growing, i’m ok lah.

Next scan will be at 28 weeks for my growth scan and also to check on my amniotic fluid since it was classified as subjectively low during my 21st week scan. I’ve been drinking a lot of water since then so hopefully the situation is better now.

I think i’ll miss the 2nd trimester a lot and hopefully the 3rd trimester won’t be so awful.

Dine at J

After the gynae appointment on Thursday, i head off to Bugis to meet Joy & Kim, two of my oldest girlfriends, to celebrate Kim’s birthday.
Thank god the gynae appointment didn’t take long so i had time to shop for Kim’s birthday present!

The thing about being pregnant, everybody tend to ask me what to eat. It’s always “what does your baby feel like eating?” Errrr… nothing? Hahaha
I feel pressured each time people ask me to suggest eating places because not everybody have the same taste as me. What might be interesting to me might not even appeal to them. I honestly didn’t know what to suggest and then i remembered i wanted to try J’s at Purvis Street but never got round to it. So we made a reservation for 6.30pm through their website the day before the dinner date.

I don’t meet these two often. The last time we met up was in April, for Joy’s birthday. But like all my other girlfriends, we’ll always have awesome conversations and catch up from where we left. I think that’s the best thing with girlfriends, eh?

We were the 1st one to arrive at the restaurant for dinner. By 6.45pm, the place was full with dinner crowds, all with reservations. So if you intend to visit J’s, be sure to make a reservation because it is a small cosy dining place.
