IVF Journey, Trying To Conceive

1st Phase

My 1st phase of my IVF protocol is going well so far. I’ve started my Nor E pills last Monday. It’s been 5 days now.
I’m really trying very very hard to keep to my meds timing. I’m so bad at this, no wonder i’m not a nurse.
I hate routines.

So anyway, 1 more week of eating Nor E and i’ll start my injectables next.

Nor E has been relatively kind to me except at certain part of the day, i’ll feel a slight cramp & twinges. Nothing too serious but noticeable. I’ve also been reading up on what to eat and what not to eat during this period.

I’m definitely stocking up on Brazil Nuts and Isotonic Drinks.
I’ve heard Avocados are good for uterus lining and i love Avocados!
While i’m really trying hard not to drink cold drinks, it’s really quite hard especially in this weather so i try and avoid carbonated drinks 1st. The only hot drink i love has to be tea but they say tea is not advisable to drink because it’s cooling.

How lah like that!

And oh, my blog stats are now not so crazy as before.
So i was initially fine with publishing publicly about IVF but i kinda like keeping it private for now as well. We’ll see how it goes after the IVF!

blind dates

So last friday, a few of us bloggers met up for dinner. I’ve met some of them previously. Either at Farhana’s wedding or because they were Card Maison’s clients but i love it that we all hit it off so so well!
You know i sometimes get a little scared of meeting a group of girls for the 1st time because you just don’t know what to expect lah. Especially if we all come from different backgrounds. Be it school or employment. It’s really hard to know if there’s gonna be awkward moments.

We talk mostly on weddings, vendors, shitty vendors, shitty brides, shitty makcik2 kepo. hahahahhaa
Marriage, home renovations & pregnancy. We also talked about pusat and makcik sembunyi bawah katil. ahahaha
That was a private joke and you just have to be there to fully understand the joke.
We also watched Farhana’s wedding video!

unnamed

Not sure if you can recognize all of them but here’s who’s who.

Gold Coast Day 1

28 February 2014:

The afternoon before the flight went in a blur. We went to NUH to do our HIV/Hepatitis blood test at 1.00pm, met up with the psychologist and was only done by 4.00pm. We rushed back home to get all our stuff to the airport cos we wanted to avoid the bad after-office hours traffic jam.

Managed to reach Changi Airport by 6.30pm padahal flight is at 10.15pm. But it gave me enough time to go Singpost, send all the registered mails to my clients, have dinner at Penang Culture and tau tau je dah time to board.

So anyway, we touched down at Gold Coast at about 8.20am. It was drizzling when we got there, but the sun was already peeking out.

IVF Journey, Trying To Conceive

red alert

So Aunt Flo showed up today, to my excitement!
Been waiting for a week for it to show but i guess she’s being considerate, wanting me to enjoy the Gold Coast trip before it’s grand appearance.

Why was i excited for this month’s cycle? Because this determine my IVF Start date.

On 27 February, the afternoon before we left for Gold Coast, we popped in  Clinic of Human Reproduction (CHR) for a session with the Psychologist.  A total waste of $90 if you ask me. Psychologist was telling us things that we obviously know. Common sense stuff, really. But oh well, it was one of the prerequisite for IVf so we went ahead anyway.
We also drew out blood for HIV & Hepatitis Test. I was initially scheduled to start IVF in March. However, the menses came late for Feb Cycle so the nurse told me they might have to push to May/June instead. I was initially upset about it cos i was so looking forward to poking myself with needles wanted to get the IVF done possibly before Ramadhan kicks in. But the kind nurse (bless her) kept telling me if i get my menses within 1st week of March, she will try and squeeze me for April session. I also picked up my prescription of Noresthisterone during this visit.

I called the CHR early this morning as per the nurse instruction. They called me back late afternoon. I’m starting on Noresthisterone on the 18th day of my cycle for 14 days. Will stop on 6th April and i have an appointment on 11 April with the doctor for a scan and the start of the injection. So Insyaallah, we’ll be starting the IVF Session on 11 April.
My only worry is because we’re supposed to go Bandung on 18 April with my parents. Not sure if it would clash with the scan dates though. Hopefully not cos it’s the Good Friday weekend!

I’m already starting to eat more healthily now and drink more plain water as opposed to carbonated / sugared drinks.
Wish me luck!

If you ever need someone to talk to / share your infertility woes, u can PM me on Facebook or Email me at bride.blogette@gmail.com

It’s always nice to hear from some of you who are going thru the same thing, even better when we are going to the same clinic! Like i’m not alone.

Oh you know, during the last psychologist session, she mentioned that i’m very positive and she asked who i can turn to for support during the IVF session. Apart from the husband, family and friends, i know i have you guys to spur me on. I have always been open about IVF and i feel that helps to keep me sane. Talking about it openly kinda diffuse my fear a bit. Because when i tell people about my fertility treatments, i feel people open up to me as well on their infertility and it makes me think that fertility treatment is not that bad. You need help, you seek for one. To each her own really, but i feel happy each time a reader tell me she’s decided to go for fertility treatment after reading about my experience. Small steps, people! 🙂

Facepaint

Before i start updating on Gold Coast, i shall post this first cos I was clearing my vanity table earlier so it’s looking neater now. I managed to snap some pictures before the vanity area go berserk again. Trust me, it doesn’t take long for it to go haywire.

Last month, i got myself the 5-Drawer Makeup Storage from Muji. It’s retailing at $39.00 and at first, i thought it wouldn’t be able to hold that much but i was proved wrong! I was able to fit in almost all my makeup stuff in there. very impressive.

I’ve featured that makeup drawer on Instagram previously. Here’s how it looks like:

All tanned up

I’m back!!!!
I’m slightly tanned and liking it. Pretty surprising cos i fall into that “i must buy all whitening products now!” category.
Weather in Gold Coast was really good. Sunny but not humid like in SG. Most importantly, no chaotar plants.
It gets really cold at night. Even my jacket can’t help me keep that warm. Time to get a new jacket. Hee.

I’m still editing pictures so that would have to come later when i write about the trip. But here’s our 1st GoPro video. Very simple but sums up almost everything we do. Couldn’t include the jetboating clip in it but the jetboating trip deserves a video on it’s own anyway.

We took it easy this trip. I wish we visited more places like the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary but that’s ok cos between that and Sea World, i actually love Sea World better.

Her, Special Events

nocturnal

Last monday, i had the chance to go watch Yuna live at Esplanade for her Nocturnal Tour.
That woman is ah-maaaaazzzzziiiiinng!

That sultry voice and the band that accompanied her was superb. You know i almost cried when she sang some of her songs. Lol. There was just so much sincerity in the lyrics, you can’t help feeling like that song was made for you.

I love the Esplanade halls but hate the seats.

5..4..3..2..1

WE ARE OFF TO GOLD COAST IN 5 DAYS!!!!
*throws confetti*
ok takmo excited sangat!

Although i don’t know how i’ll survive the 8hrs flight. I’m so stressed up thinking of that.
But on a happier note, i can’t wait for this trip. I can’t wait to go Theme Parks and all.

Oh, do you know i have not been to USS yet? As in play the rides and all.  I’m so merepek, benda tu dah bukak berzaman2 pun i refuse to go. I don’t know what’s holding me back. Maybe the fact that there’s so many china tourist there agaknya.

I’ve applied for Visa, travel insurance, booked a service apartment and booked Theme Park tickets online.
I’ve searched for car rental. We’ll be self-driving. Not sure why because according to my friends, Gold Coast is very easy to get by but we still wanna drive just for the fun of it.

Apart from Theme Parks, we’re also going jetboating. I’ve always always wanted to do that seh.
Because i probably will never go Jet-skiing myself, Jetboating would be the next best option! Kalau terbalik pun terbalik ramai-ramai. Hahaha

Since most of the attraction and shopping mall will be closed by 5.00pm, i really wanna know what else we can do there at night. I’m such a night person, i need to go out do something. So if you’ve been there and you have suggestions for me, let me know?

Makan Chronicles

sweet saturday

So we finally had a free saturday last week and made an impromptu trip to Bugis to watch Robocop (do u know this is the 1st time i’ve watched Robocop!). Since we were at that area, i proposed La Marelle for dinner.

Now, one of my 2014 must-do is visit as many halal / muslim-owned cafes and we have already started 2014 with I Am Cafe. Which i have yet to tell you guys about. But yeah, we went to I Am on New Year’s Day. Maybe next time i’ll tell you about it.
