Big Tickets

Many times, i’m left wondering how can someone small require a lot of things once they’re born and i really mean a lot!
I was overwhelmed when i followed the Baby’s Market on FB and went thru the baby shopping list. I tried cutting down on things that i think the baby might not need but there’s just still so much to buy & prepare for.

But i’ve been striking off some big ticket items off the list now since i’ve been in a mood to research and all. I cannot imagine doing this in my last trimester if my last  trimester is a mirror to my 1st trimester. Lol

By big ticket items, i mean stuff that the baby would need to use for long, bulky and fairly important.

One that  i’ve striked off the list is the baby cot. Sleeping arrangements has always been at the back of my mind because i know there’s no way i would allow the baby to sleep on the bed with us because Rusly is not exactly someone who can keep still when he sleeps. Neither can  i. So i know there has to be a baby cot in the room. So when i found out about this 5-in 1 Convertible Cot, i knew it’s a God-Sent!

features

I love that it can be converted into a bedside bed. So i’ll technically have the baby next to me when i sleep, but not on the same bed.
When the baby outgrows the cot, it can then be converted to a toddler bed next.

It was also going on offer at $159.00 because we pre-ordered it and will collect it at the October Baby Fair later. It’s usually going for $288.00 here. So a little savings there! Better than nothing, eh?

I also wanted to get a rocker / swing for the baby and decided on the Ingenuity ConvertMe Swing-2-Seat because they were having this awesome bundle that’s hard to resist.

Baby not included.
Baby not included.

The retail price is at $229.00 here but the Baby Market had a pre-order bundle where at $299.00, the Ingenuity Washable Playard worth $339.00 is also included! So technically i saved $269.00!

Love that it comes with a changing table and the entire playard is machine-washable. I just think it’s much more hygienic to be able to wash the entire playard. We’ll probably only use the playard when the baby is bigger though since the baby should be sleeping in the baby cot most of the time.

They also have a lot of stroller deals but for strollers, i would rather see and test it for myself before buying, partly because the stroller is also one of the most expensive big ticket item in the baby list! I have a lot of strollers in  my maybe-lists although i’m really keen on one of them as it fits 90% of my criteria. I spent so much time researching on it because i have so many criteria for a stroller! Will do up a post on it next maybe!

The next big ticket item i’m still contemplating on is the Breast Pump (of all things!). I don’t know if i really need one since i’ll be a stay at home mum but what if i really need it and i don’t have it with me? Like if i have blocked ducts or engorgements etc. But what if i’m unable to breastfeed? You know, that kind of dilemma?

As for baby clothings and all, i think i’ll wait for Carter’s Black Friday Sale in November where everything will go for 50% off!
Think it’ll be a huge savings because even though clothings are pretty cheap, friends keep saying babies need lotsa clothes and they outgrow it so fast so i don’t see a need to buy clothes at full retail price especially for newborns! Lol
I think baby clothes are so much cheaper online! Have u seen the price tag at Mothercare and Kiddy Palace? Phew.

This is only a portion of the Baby List. If you’re keen to see, the Baby List is up here! Let me know if i’ve missed out anything!
Think i can clear half of it before the 2nd trimester ends. Hopefully i can clear everything by end of the year although i hope i don’t end up spending unnecessarily at the Baby Fair. I have a feeling i’ll be lost and get all sucked into buying useless baby stuff there! Lol

Dine at J

After the gynae appointment on Thursday, i head off to Bugis to meet Joy & Kim, two of my oldest girlfriends, to celebrate Kim’s birthday.
Thank god the gynae appointment didn’t take long so i had time to shop for Kim’s birthday present!

The thing about being pregnant, everybody tend to ask me what to eat. It’s always “what does your baby feel like eating?” Errrr… nothing? Hahaha
I feel pressured each time people ask me to suggest eating places because not everybody have the same taste as me. What might be interesting to me might not even appeal to them. I honestly didn’t know what to suggest and then i remembered i wanted to try J’s at Purvis Street but never got round to it. So we made a reservation for 6.30pm through their website the day before the dinner date.

I don’t meet these two often. The last time we met up was in April, for Joy’s birthday. But like all my other girlfriends, we’ll always have awesome conversations and catch up from where we left. I think that’s the best thing with girlfriends, eh?

We were the 1st one to arrive at the restaurant for dinner. By 6.45pm, the place was full with dinner crowds, all with reservations. So if you intend to visit J’s, be sure to make a reservation because it is a small cosy dining place.

The Close Encounter

Yesterday was the gynae appointment and as usual, i took a cab down and something happened on the way to NUH.

FB

Got me all shaken up yesterday because it happened right in front of me and it could have been me. I was so lucky i was wearing the seatbelt because when the taxi driver jam braked, i would have been tossed in the cab like a Chef’s Salad. The kind pakcik saw me being so closed to tears drove to the side of the road, gave me a drink and told me to calm down 1st. I remember my heart beating so fast because everything happened so quickly. At the same time i was so worried for baby and i kept praying it’ll be alright. Thank goodness we were on the way to NUH so i knew i’ll have to tell this to the gynae.

Waited about half an hour before i could meet Dr Citra and told her what happened earlier on. She was so calm, hence calming me down as well. So far i don’t have any bleeding nor any waterbag leakage etc. Was thinking of insisting on a scan initially but when i heard the heartbeat going strong at 160 bpm, i knew baby is alright. I then told myself i have to forget about the whole incident because thinking about it would not be good for me & the baby. But i had difficulty sleeping last night because it kept replaying in my head.

But this morning, i woke up feeling so good. And really grateful.  Syukur Alhamdulillah, i really cannot express thanks to Allah for protecting me and the little one.

Gold Coast Day 2

Just realized i’ve not continued on my Gold Coast posts and because i’m fairly free, i shall start on the Gold Coast series now!

Right from the start, i knew Day 2 would turn out to be really awesome because it’s Movie World Day!
I don’t go to Theme Parks all the time but when i do, i forget that i’m 30. I think Theme Parks does that to you, eh?

Started the day quite early and was greeted with this view. I miss this still.

we got prawn-ed!

Prawning with the usual suspects.

No 2

My 1st time prawning and i can’t really say i totally enjoy it. It is a patience game and patience is something i do not possess.

We first went to Bottle Tree Park but got so shocked at how small the prawning area is. Everybody sits too close to each other and i like my own space, thank you very much. I can tahan people sitting close with me, if it’s friends or i’m having dinner but i prefer not to sit too close with a stranger for 3 hours. That’s too close for comfort.

So we head off to Jurong instead and settled for Hai Bin at Jurong. Bahhhh so much better.
They had a few prawning pools and i think we’re all well spaced out and that place has got good ventilation.
It’s pretty inaccessible though so you have to drive there. Not sure if there are buses running at that area. They have another outlet in Punggol, if that’s nearer to you. Hai Bin operates 24 hours. So if you can’t sleep and you fancy some fishing, you can go there!

Gold Coast Day 1

28 February 2014:

The afternoon before the flight went in a blur. We went to NUH to do our HIV/Hepatitis blood test at 1.00pm, met up with the psychologist and was only done by 4.00pm. We rushed back home to get all our stuff to the airport cos we wanted to avoid the bad after-office hours traffic jam.

Managed to reach Changi Airport by 6.30pm padahal flight is at 10.15pm. But it gave me enough time to go Singpost, send all the registered mails to my clients, have dinner at Penang Culture and tau tau je dah time to board.

So anyway, we touched down at Gold Coast at about 8.20am. It was drizzling when we got there, but the sun was already peeking out.

Facepaint

Before i start updating on Gold Coast, i shall post this first cos I was clearing my vanity table earlier so it’s looking neater now. I managed to snap some pictures before the vanity area go berserk again. Trust me, it doesn’t take long for it to go haywire.

Last month, i got myself the 5-Drawer Makeup Storage from Muji. It’s retailing at $39.00 and at first, i thought it wouldn’t be able to hold that much but i was proved wrong! I was able to fit in almost all my makeup stuff in there. very impressive.

I’ve featured that makeup drawer on Instagram previously. Here’s how it looks like:

All tanned up

I’m back!!!!
I’m slightly tanned and liking it. Pretty surprising cos i fall into that “i must buy all whitening products now!” category.
Weather in Gold Coast was really good. Sunny but not humid like in SG. Most importantly, no chaotar plants.
It gets really cold at night. Even my jacket can’t help me keep that warm. Time to get a new jacket. Hee.

I’m still editing pictures so that would have to come later when i write about the trip. But here’s our 1st GoPro video. Very simple but sums up almost everything we do. Couldn’t include the jetboating clip in it but the jetboating trip deserves a video on it’s own anyway.

We took it easy this trip. I wish we visited more places like the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary but that’s ok cos between that and Sea World, i actually love Sea World better.

5..4..3..2..1

WE ARE OFF TO GOLD COAST IN 5 DAYS!!!!
*throws confetti*
ok takmo excited sangat!

Although i don’t know how i’ll survive the 8hrs flight. I’m so stressed up thinking of that.
But on a happier note, i can’t wait for this trip. I can’t wait to go Theme Parks and all.

Oh, do you know i have not been to USS yet? As in play the rides and all.  I’m so merepek, benda tu dah bukak berzaman2 pun i refuse to go. I don’t know what’s holding me back. Maybe the fact that there’s so many china tourist there agaknya.

I’ve applied for Visa, travel insurance, booked a service apartment and booked Theme Park tickets online.
I’ve searched for car rental. We’ll be self-driving. Not sure why because according to my friends, Gold Coast is very easy to get by but we still wanna drive just for the fun of it.

Apart from Theme Parks, we’re also going jetboating. I’ve always always wanted to do that seh.
Because i probably will never go Jet-skiing myself, Jetboating would be the next best option! Kalau terbalik pun terbalik ramai-ramai. Hahaha

Since most of the attraction and shopping mall will be closed by 5.00pm, i really wanna know what else we can do there at night. I’m such a night person, i need to go out do something. So if you’ve been there and you have suggestions for me, let me know?

Take Me To: Bandung Day 2

We started the day early at 7.30am. Niat di hati nak avoid all the traffic jam.
But kita hanya merancang, Tuhan menentu segalanya. Hahahaha
WE WERE STUCK IN THE TRAFFIC STILL!!!

*breathes in & out*

We planned on going to Kawah Putih. Actually i was the one yang iya-iya nak pergi because i don’t want to end up shopping the entire time (omg this coming from me is totally unbelievable) but yes i love shopping. I just don’t want to be shopping the entire trip. There’s other things to see than malls & factory outlets. lol

DSC_0070

We took 2 hours to reach Kawah Putih and close to 3 hours from Kawah Putih back to the Town area.
