Trying To Conceive

of being a mom

one minute i was looking at makeup tutorials and then people unboxing their new handbags and then i saw a full movie and i figured why not?

i thought it’ll be boring since i didn’t even recognize any of the actor & actresses.
But at the end of it, i cried. Like full-on crying without the hingus meleleh part of cos. I’ll reserve that for some other things.

Mom at Sixteen tugged at my heartstrings.
It’s about Jacey, a sixteen year old who got pregnant and struggling and a school teacher, Jenna, happily married and struggling to get pregnant,

I’m not sure if it’s my PMS acting up but i feel for Jenna. I understand that struggles and frustration. I’m glad things worked out for her and Insya Allah, things will work out for me and hubs too.

If you might be interested to shed some tears, here’s the movie!

Makan Chronicles

Going Indo!

For my birthday dinner, i requested the hubby to go to IndoChilli for an Indonesian fare.
All those pictures of their food had me salivating.

Thing about the hubs and me, we kind of have different tastebuds but we try to fit in together.
He always call me Kampong cos i love Indon and Malay Food. I cannot live without Sambal Belacan.
I love petai and all the ulam-ulam.

On the other hand, he loves Western Food. Especially cream-based stuff.
He loves his steak, pasta & burgers and while i do like them, i cannot eat them everyday.

IndoChilli is at ZIon Road. Just opposite Great World City. Like directly opposite.
If you drive, i must warn you parking is a bitch. There’s limited space and because that area is filled with makan places, finding a parking spot can be a chore but we were lucky to snag a parking space right in front of the restaurant itself.

We made a reservation a day before as advised as it can be full house especially on weekend nights.
True enough, when we came, the restaurant was about 90% full, mostly with groups.

Ambience was really nice, it reminded me of a restaurant we went to in Bali. Service was swift. Our food came in less than 10mins.

Here’s what we tried the other day.

The Big 30

Officially in the 30’s club. But i am always always young at heart!

At 30, i wish i have achieved more than what i have now but syukur Alhamdulilah for all that He has given me so far.
All the experience and the opportunities given were priceless and i will not trade them for anything.

To cut the story short, i think everybody is excited for that Jumbo!

I went to the Chanel at Taka! Love the service there although that place is totally littered with rich indons & Arabs!

Beauty & Skincare, Her

change!

i was looking to change my skincare routine as SKII does not seem to work for me anymore and Philosophy & Clarisonic came to mind cos of all the great reviews.

20131022_185957 20131022_190111

I got the Clarisonic Mia 2 because it has two speed settings and 2 years warranty. See, perangai makcik2 dah terserlah.
It’s $215.00 at Sephora and there’s actually an older version at $170.00, with 1 speed setting and 1 year warranty.

Based on the three times i have used it, AWESOME!
My face feels so clean. I didn’t expect it to be so gentle though so that’s a plus! The bristles were really fine & delicate so it does not scratch your face lah. The last thing i want would be scratches.

And then at Philosophy, i got served by this Angmoh guy who use to be a fireman back in California and now selling skincare! i just find that hilarious actually. Lol

I was actually looking for the Clear As Day range but unfortunately it is not available in Singapore yet. So i got a mix of everything.
I have Oily Skin and some of my main concerns include Dull Complexion, Dark Circles, Acne scars & dark spots.

Shopping Spree

this week

It’s the Birthday week and i’m already having fun going for shopping sprees.
Just today, i met Liza for a trip to Jem to get our Clarisonic Mia 2 from Sephora and then we ‘accidentally’ passed by Pazzion and got our matching sandals.

i swear it wasn’t intentional but me and the bestie just have the same taste in almost everything!
Even in school, we end up  buying same shoes etc because we just happen to like the same thing. But we’ll make sure we don’t wear it out together. That would be so boria-ish. hahaha

My super cute god-daughter No 2. Natalia Aesyah Angwin.
really love this girl cos she’s always smiling away!

oh and something really stupid happened today. Liza forgot to bring Natalia’s milk powder! She brought everything out, except the Milk powder! LOL

So she went to the NTUC and bought 1 tin of Milk Powder and went everywhere with that tin of Milk Powder.

I swear, after having 3 children, she’s getting really forgetful!

Anyway, i met Rina, my ex-colleague at Clementi Mall after that cos she wanted to give me an early birthday treat so off we go to Seoul Garden.  had a good catch up over bbqing yummy beefs.
As much as i love the old workplace, looking at the current situations, i’m glad i left that place 🙂

Tomorrow is even more exciting. I ‘m heading to Town to get Philosophy Skincare. read so much raves about it that i’m gonna change my entire skincare routine and then there’s Chanel.

Getting the Jumbo tomorrow, baby!
I cannot wait!

And then after that, i’ll be doing up my eyelash extensions. Been so long since i do up mine!

Her

BIG hair

I’ve got natural curls and my hair is really fine and limp hence when i chopped it short, memang lah masalah besar sekali.
Firstly because Abang sam forbade me to rebond my hair / flat iron it cos it will look even more flat and having flat short hair is not exactly nice for me. He told me i’ll need to blow dry my hair to get my desired results. But blow drying & styling my hair is seriously a bitch!
Blowdrying it with my normal hair dryer just did not yield the kind of result i wanted so i was on a lookout to splurge on a salon hairdryer.

While looking for reviews, i came across the Babyliss Big Hair. Watched youtube reviews and i was sold!
I’ve been using it for a month now and totally no regrets.

It’s not that expensive, compared to a salon hair dryer (which can cost up to $300 for  really good one) but it does an equally good job! Perfect for noobs like me and it takes me about 15mins to get my short bob in place.

This was one of the reviews done for shorter hair. I was sold after this video because her hair texture is about the same as mine.

Those with longer hair, you can also use this and smoothen your tresses with it really quickly.

I got mine here and it’s retailing for $159.00
Totally worth it for all the time it has saved me! Recommended Liza to get and she loves it too!

And no, this is not a blog advertorial! lol

Her

all dressed up

Few days back, i met an old girlfriend, who got married few months before me.
She is also trying to conceive so yes we are still enjoying couple time with our spouses.

but i couldn’t resist asking her “what the hell happen to you?”
i wanted to add in “did the robber take away your entire wardrobe?!”

Now don’t get me wrong, i’m never judgemental on what people wear and don’t wear but i was taken aback when she said
“i’m married already what. Nak melawa lagi buat apa?”

To each her own honestly but isn’t looking presentable an unspoken code among women, married or single.
And by being presentable, you don’t need to be flashing the latest IT bag, draping yourself in the finest silk and all the likes.

At least my definition of being presentable while out in the public;
washed hair, ironed clothes, proper footwear and at least a lightly made-up face or if you’re not someone who wears makeup, at least blot the oils away?

Kind of got me thinking, do married women get complacent?

The Husband & Wife

fueling up

2 weeks ago, i brought the hubby to Carousel.
I’ve not been there in years! I use to go there once every two months and then i got sick of it and stopped going and tried different buffet places but Carousel is still the best to me.

The hubby, on the other hand have never tried Carousel. Can you believe it!
He’ve tried others, but not Carousel!

Because Carousel is always full house on weekends, we made our reservations at least 2 weeks in advance.

Carousel did not dissapoint me again. Love the food selection still.

But i LOVE the risotto. So much that i wanna try making my own soon! Jamie Oliver is gonna help me do one! hee
