Musings of a Bride

Hello Tok Kadi Part II

Yesterday, me, the boy, my dad and my niece finally went to ROMM for the interview.

Do you know i actually forgot the whole interview process thing? Till i conveniently check my ROMM registration at my email and i realise we have to report ourselves 5 weeks before the wedding. I went 25 days before our wedding. Sikit lebih kurang halal ah tu.

The whole process is quite fast actually. I took a queue no. Waited for the counter lady to call us, verify our NRIC and print out the registration forms, then wait again for the kadi to call us in.

Waiting time was approximately 15 mins when i went over at 3.00pm.
The interview with the Kadi took about 5 mins.

My dad went in first, then it was my turn. The boy was the last to go in. The kadi who interviewed me was Kadi Nor Razak.

My dad tried to scare me by saying “Tok Kadi suara garau. Baik2 jawab. Macam garang je..” the moment he came out from the Kadi’s office.

I was scared stiff when i knocked the door. Alas, Kadi cuma tanya yang perlu aje. He asked if i was married before and if i’m a legitimate child and after asking all the necessary questions, he told me to take an oath. Dah, tu je.

When i got out of the room, i tried to scare the boy pulak.
Iyalah… mana aci aku sorang je kena takut2 kan.

I told him ” B.. tok kadi suara garang sey. muka pun garang jugak. U masok je, u make sure u cakap Assalamualaikum eh!”

Tapi member cool je. plan aku fail.

Dia keluar pun cool. Dia cakap part angkat sumpah, macam nak ketawa pasal macam amik pledge. he is so easily amused.

I have 24 days to go and i was just whining at Facebook on the things i have yet to do and find.

But i’m really really tired emotionally and physically.
Last weekend was a blast cos finally, after years of coaxing from the guys, i’ve decided to finally sing with the boys on stage.

We had a Hari Raya show at Rivervale on Sunday which was quite fun and according to the boy, i was quite mentel on stage. hahaha

We also performed at a wedding reception at Burkill Hall, Botanic Gardens on Sunday. Nice place tapi ya ampun punya lah leceh nak angkut barang2 naik. It’s a 2-storey bungalow with no lift. Go figure how we lift up our sound system and the big-ass speakers upstairs.

ok, that aside, my Hen Party is on this Friday!
I’m excited cos i know i will have fun with the girls. I really don’t know what we’ll be doing and at this point, i really don’t care. I just wanna meet them, talk & laugh and forget about the wedding preps for awhile.

Musings of a Bride

29 days

It all happened so fast, before i knew it, we are a month away to the wedding. Sometimes, i take time to reflect a lot upon our relationship. As is the case with every women out there, i’ve wondered what made me so sure that he’s the one?

Is this relationship gonna work?
Why am i getting married to him? I mean, why him?

I don’t mean to suggest i’m having doubts about getting married. My fiance is an awesome guy. The fact that he is willing to put up with my overabundance of sometimes-shitty attitude is amazing, really.

Provided i don’t piss him off enough to justify homicide.

Yesterday night, lying sick on my bed, I thought of the times he see me au naturel sans all the makeup and truth be told, i never ever meet any of my ex-es without makeup. Yes, i was an insecure girl deep inside.

Although i know he loves it when i dress up for him and all, i know i am comfortable in my own skin to show him my naked face. It may seem such a meaningless thing.

But i’m the girl who is so used to hide behind all the gunks i put on my face to feel secure about myself.

Not anymore.

This morning, i had an epiphany. Maybe this is what marriage is all about.
It’s about sharing moments of vulnerability. It’s about standing naked in front of another human being, for better and for worse, and saying,

“Yes, I am a human being. I’m not perfect. Sometimes I can be truly flawed and petty and ugly and sometimes kind of insensitive.”

It’s about learning to trust my partner, trusting that he can accept and love me in spite of all my ugliness.

This is a hell of a realization to have right now. Even now, as my wedding date looms over me, this is something that I am still getting used to and perhaps the single greatest thing in my life.

There is someone in this world with whom I can be entirely myself, without shame or apology. 🙂

The Wedding Invites – Completed!

Less words and more pictures. Click on thumbnails to enlarge.

33 days to the wedding, i am finally done with the invites.
I swear, i am behind time. I am never gonna DIY these envelopes again, not even for my first-born child’s wedding. hahaa

Yes, these envelopes are a killer, but i love it, and that’s all that matters really.

My mom and dad have started giving them away and my relatives love it! *beams*

I’m gonna start giving it out to my colleagues and friends starting tomorrow. Will also be mailing out some tomorrow too to some friends.

Have i told you guys, i just can’t wait to get all this done and over with? Really, the wedding  preps are taking a toll on me finally. But on the other hand, i will miss all these excitement. I am so twisted.

The bestie just told me the other day she can’t come back to SG on my wedding. She’s currently heavily pregnant with her 2nd one and is stuck at Qatar with her hubby, who is currently stationed there. I really, really miss her and as much as i really want her to be at my wedding, i shall not be a selfish friend.

Oh, the misery of having one of your best friend across the world. *sigh*

With only 43 days to go..

I sure am freaking out.

We are 43 days away to the wedding. That’s like 1.5 months to go till we hear the kompang.

Nervous? Yes, i am. But i am soaking in the excitement of it all.
Time really pass so fast, before we all know it, it’ll be end of September already.

I’m so productive today. *pats back*
I called up the Town Council today to confirm that we don’t have to book the nearby void deck to do the cooking and prep work. Cos mine is a link-house kind of MPH and there is a limited space to set up the tentage. Luckily, we don’t have to pay for the space.

Then, i called Starhub to sign up for Cable TV and broadband for our new house. So exciting! Soon, we will be lazy bums, watching E! Entertainment all day long.

I really gotta start my cookies baking soon. Been procastinating for so long. Finish up my invite envelopes and send it all out. So many things to do!

Syawal

Selamat Hari Raya!

Hope the first day of Syawal has been really great for you guys.
It wasn’t as tiring as i thought it would be though. We only visited four houses and i had lotsa fun with my siblings, as usual.

I love Syawal as it brings all of us a lot closer and we always reminisce the stupid things we do as kids. This year, we had a new addition to the family.

Qais Aaryan – My new nephew!

He was well-behaved throughout the whole visiting and next year, there will be a new addition to the family too! *yay!*

Yesterday, i no longer get asked the “when are you getting married?” question. phew.
We talked mainly about my wedding and my new house. hur hur.
Next year, they will start asking me the “Bila nak ada anak?” question. lol

It was awesome, going around giving out our cards to the relatives. It’s gonna be my last Raya as a single. Next year dah double! In fact Hari Raya Haji pun dah kira dah double. Hari Raya Haji pun Raya jugak pe..

Some pictures from 1st Syawal!

My BIG family.

My two favourite girls. My nieces. God, i love them like my own!
It is so quiet when they are not at home. When i move to my own place, i probably won’t get to see them often, since they are currently staying at my mum’s on weekdays. I know i will miss them lots.

My two sisters! I will sharing the room with them, surely and getting ready together each time before we go out for family visits and taking our own sweet time, while the mom start screaming for us to hurry up. I will definitely miss that. Not! lol

This year i didn’t even plan much for my Baju raya. I tailored my baju 1 day sebelum Puasa and got it 2 days before Raya. The materials were actually sitting in my wardrobe for the longest time. I had some black chiffon material and i told the kakak tailor to make an Abaya kind of dress for me. She took some leftover lace patches and did those patchwork design on the dress, which i totally love especially since im only paying $60.00 for that. haha. I also did a simple Baju Kurung Pahang using the songket that the FMIL got for me during my 26th birthday. Itu aje. Malas nak bergaya. I didn’t even wear high heels lor, since we did not go public, so i don’t see any point. I wore my sandals out and to be honest, tak glam langsung!

But i told my sisters, takpe. Kalau akak glamer2 time raya, nanti time kahwin hilang seri. Time kahwin baru boleh jembu2. hahaha.

To be honest, i have enough of the rendang and what-nots. I am gonna continue eating my Yong Tau Foo now. Till October. In a bid to eating more healthily. lol

Lastly, i would like to selit and seek forgiveness from you guys, kalau2 pernah terkasar bahasa, kat blog or kat twitter or kat email or mana2 ah, Sorry yer. Serious tak sengaja!

Our Shoebox

The Home.

You know how i’m always lamenting about how i have been wnating to turn the house into a home?

Now i think the ‘home’ is really taking into shape and i’m happy with how it’s turning out. 🙂

The living room area looks more cosy now that we bought the carpet from IKEA and oh, the candles and the flowers.

Our make-shift dinner table.

For a couple who have not stayed in the house permanently, we sure have a lot of food stock. lol

Jentayu, Musings of a Bride

sunday.

Warning: This entry contains food images. 🙂

Last sunday was spent at JB with the Jentayu team.
The married ones wanna go drive over to Simpang Renggam and so we did.

Me and the boy, kes tak tahan panas only survived 15mins there before we retreat back to the car for air-con. Tak beli banyak kuih pun.

After Simpang Renggam, we head over to Giant at dunno where and i stocked up some stuffs for home. Like errr.. canned food. U can never get enough of canned food. haha.

After all that, we finally went over to Angsana as some of them belom beli baju kurung and i was looking for Quran and Sejadah for the dulang trays. We managed to get the Quran and sejadah we wanted so one down and few more to go. lol
We also managed to get a cheap tikar which looks like songket at only RM$19.90.
Didn’t get to get more stuff cos Angsana was really packed on weekends, dapat parking dah cukup bagus.

We head off to Jusco Aeon Bukit Indah to break fast since there’s more variety of food and since it’s further away from the Checkpoint, there’s not much of a crowd there. I love that place!

We had Nandos for Iftar (suka! i wish the Nandos in SG is halal, but there’s always Barcelos.)

and kalau masuk JB and tak makan A&W, rugi yo!
But since we were kinda full from Nando’s we only took the Waffles and Root Beer Float. Coney Dog, you gotta wait for some other time, ok?

We did a little shopping and i managed to get these really sweet hairbands at RM19.90 each at 30% off. Lawa sangat. Sayang tak sempat amik gambar.

Orang2 pandai je camwhore at the end of the day only, bila muka dah berminyak, dah penat. haha. We went in at 10.00am and only got in to Singapore close to midnight. Imagine how tiring it was? While i really love the food there, i don’t think i’ll be those kind of couple yang mesti masok JB every weekend. Penat ley.

DIY Project, Musings of a Bride

The Signage Posters

I did my signage posters already! (feeling rajin).

Initially, I wanted to put our pictures. Jadi orang yang datang boleh tau, muka aku without makeup tebal macam mana. haha

Tapi macam over pulak kalau aku letak gambar kita kat luar LRT station. Step mcm aku buat concert pulak.

Simple and very clear. Kalau sesat gak, tak tau aku nak cakap apa.

I’m gonna print it on A3 Size Art Card and laminate it. Initially thought of printing it on the Kapaline Foam Board. But i wouldn’t be able to laminate it.

Macam2 hal.
