Sabsuka

Made sabsuka on Sunday cos i was craving for it! One of my favourite Sabsuka is the one from Badoque but i was too lazy to make my way there so i made my own! So puas hati lah ok.

A couple of my friends requested for the recipe so i thought i’ll put it up here for reference.

Ingredients:

  • 500g minced beef
  • 4 tbsp chili paste
  • 2 tbsp minced garlics
  • 1 tbsp minced ginger
  • 4 tbsp curry powder
  • 1 big onion diced
  • 1 tomato diced
  • 1/2 can of Large size tomato puree
  • 4 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup of water
  • salt

Ingredients for toppings:

  • 1 big onion diced
  • 2 tomatoes diced
  • some coriander leaves
  • 1-2 bird’s eye chilies sliced
  • 1-2 green chilies sliced
  • 6 eggs

How to?:

  1. Marinate minced meat with curry powder and let it rest for 20 mins.
  2. Heat oil and saute onions.
  3. Add in chili paste till “pecah minyak”
  4. Add in the marinated beef and stir till everything is covered.
  5. Add in 1 cup of water.
  6. Once it has started boiling,  add in tomato puree, tomato sauce and diced tomatoes.
  7. Stir, add in salt and sugar.
  8. Let it simmer. The mixture shouldn’t be too thick or too thin.
  9. Put the beef in oven dish to bake. I didn’t bake it though. i just put it in a pan and do it over the stove. Either way, it works so it’s up to you.
  10. Sprinkle all the topping on top of the beef mixture.
  11. Make small holes for eggs if you’re baking it, then bake at 180C degrees for 15 minutes. If you’re doing it over the stove, less than 10mins will do.
  12. All done & serve it with french loaf! Yums!

off to penang!

Ok not off to Penang, Malaysia per se but yesterday, after jamming, the mother-in-law told us she wanna drop by our place to lepak2 while my father-in-law go do some errands and i asked if she has any cravings and she mentioned Laksa Penang.

I love Laksa Penang! Not a fan of the Laksa Johor though.
In fact, i’m not a fan of most dishes that has santan in it.

So i googled for a Laksa Penang Recipe and found a reliable one.

Now, i love Laksa Penang but nak buat Laksa Penang, walaupun senang tapi part nak kopek ikan and hancur2 kan punya lah leceh.

Kitchen Projects, The Husband & Wife

our 1st ramadhan

Has been pretty awesome, really.

I’ve pretty much try to be more hands-on in the kitchen more, cook more for iftar and i’m happy at the end of the day, when we sit down for iftar, bila dia baca doa buka puasa, satu macam nya feeling yang tersangat best.

Imperfect he may be, in other’s eyes. But i choose to only see the perfect side of him.

This would be our 1st Raya together, and i’m excited to see how our plans would be.

Kitchen Projects, The Husband & Wife

Pop it in the oven.

Sejak menjak dah kahwin ni, aku selalu gak lah feeling Nigella Lawson. Balik kerja, takde benda lain nak buat, kalau aku tak masak, aku makan. Tu aje lah.

Muka aku ni pun dah bulat macam pinggan orang kawin. -_-

So, just yesterday, i baked Shepherd’s Pie. Feeling omputih pulak k.
Pasal asyik makan Nasi ngan Mee je.

I love makanan omputih because it is so easy to cook and it doesn’t require much effort nor ingredients honestly. Great for working wives (macam saya).

I don’t know how long i can keep up with the “masak-lepas-balik-kerja” routine cos most of my colleagues cakap memenatkan. So far i find it enjoyable, but that’s because i love cooking. Especially when your husband walks in through the door after work and find you at the kitchen. Itu feeling yang tak tau nak cakap apa. lol

Tapi bila your husband balik rumah and find you sitting on the kitchen floor, chopping chicken, macam nak selubung je muka ngan kain batik. Malu sangat. Macam makcik2. Sungguh tak sexy.

But no, I am not in the pakai-kain-batik or the baju butterfly nya phase. Yet.

Kitchen Projects, Musings of a Bride

Sarinah Hen Party

Nari semangat aku update blog. Macam tengah mood malas nak buat kerja after the long weekend and to be fair, i work my ass off last week. lol. excuses!

Last saturday was Sarinah’s Hen Party.

Guess what we did? A baking class!
Cos the bride is a noob when it comes to cooking or baking.
So ni kira crash course ah sebelum dia kahwin.

We engaged Kak Izah to hold the Baking Class for us and we managed to do our very own Cupcake Bouquet. It was a great fun, laughing about the stupid things we do and being oh so competitive with each other (cos we were split into 2 groups).

Everyone was decked out in Turquoise and we even had a simple veil for Sar.

All the ingredients were provided for so we only have to show up with our aprons.
It was a hands-on session and we got to do everything from scratch. From the measuring to the decorating process.

Kak izah was very helpful in entertaining our enquiries cos to be honest, out of the 6 of us, only me and Has bakes. The others don’t bake at all.

Coincidentally, the three of us have the same aprons, in different colours.
(Hidup Daiso!)

And the three of them, coincidentally were in Checkered Aprons.
So we automatically form our group of threes.

Our chocolate moist cupcake.

Vanilla Cupcakes

While waiting for the cakes to bake, we prepared Roti Kirai for lunch.
Here’s our “Burberry-style” Roti Kirai. lol

Our naked cupcake bouquet.

All of our naked cupcakes which looks like Mushrooms. lol

My pink frosting!

My cupcake bouquet!

Dengan muka berminyak, rambut serabai, setelah sehari berkerja keras.

Everyone’s cupcake bouquet. Such a pretty sight!

Group picture! That’s the bride in between.

15 years of friendship and still standing strong. I love these girls like sisters.

1 more Hen Party to go, and yes i’m talking about mine! lol

DIY Project, Kitchen Projects, Musings of a Bride

The Cookie Favor Bags.

Guess what i picked up during lunch?

Cookie Favor Bags from Daiso!

I was all restless yesterday cos the lady from Daiso whom i was liasing with, said that there are no more stocks island-wide. I only asked for 33 packets actually.

I was about to give up yesterday, sedih macam nak apa.
Kept thinking of where i can get pink cookie bags in these sizes.

Today, just before lunch, the lady called me to say there were some stocks that came in. 35 packets to be precise. Happppppy sangat!! Terus mood nak buat kerja hilang, macam nak rush je gi Daiso. lol

So, i picked up these babies when i went to IMM for my lunch just.
Mad happy. I only spend $66 on these bags which total up to 396 bags.

These bags are only for my side-nya favors since the boy nya mum will be doing her own favors. Technically, i only need 300pcs of it but i wanted to do more just in case either side tak cukup berkat.

So, favor bags all settled!

See what i baked last Saturday!

The cookies that i’m gonna bake for my Favors!

This was just a trial-run as it has been quite sometime since i baked them and thank God, i can whip them out perfectly.

I gave them to my Family members and the boy’s bandmates to try. They love it!!
So yeah, baking of all these cookies will start in August and i will store them in the Biscuit Tins that i have at home.

The only thing pending for my Favor Bags would be the Plastic Bag inserts for me to pack my biscuits in before i pack them in the Favor bags, the stickers i’m gonna paste on the Plastic Inserts and the DIY Tags im gonna staple on the Favor Bags.

I can’t wait to finish this project!
